Evin’s Paper Making Challenge

unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my paper design but I did document the whole experience so you can see what is looks like through that. 😀

What I did when I first saw Connor was I noticed his Ray Bans and initially thought to make a pair of paper ones. After finding the process too difficult I then switched to an origami camera because I noticed on his Facebook that he is really into photography.I attempted this idea but failed miserable when it came to folding a certain section. I felt hope was lost and my moral was dulled, but an idea burst into my head as if struck by an “answer” lightning bolt. I was to make Connor a bow tie because I felt it would be something he would wear. I also wanted to make it out of saturday newspaper comic stripes because he seems to have a good sense of humour. Here is the video in which I learnt how to fold the bow tie BING. If you are interested it is super easy to do, just make sure you have exact measurements for it to work out!!

The piece was meant for him to wear—it was his appearance that led me to the idea originally, so it should be placed around the neck. I do not expect him to actually wear it on a daily basis but maybe for a costume of some sort for in the future. I think it will be placed on a shelf or on a cork board. It could also be possible that it ends up in the trash, who knows.

I thought his reaction would be of enthusiasm. I felt he would be surprised and try it on right away. Luckily for me that is the exact way it turned out. Beginning with a few cuss words, he proceeded to check out the bow tie and finally try it on.

I do think my part was successful. I do believe he will keep it for keeps sake but I do not expect him to wear out a lot, who knows it could be used as a prop for his next photo shoot. Over all it was an interesting and fun experience.
