Jen’s Single Action Machine

with 3 comments

For this assignment we were asked to create a machine that made the viewer/ audience to conduct only one action towards the machine. My machine was a rotating image that has a

handle to help rotate the machine. The single action for the viewer was turning the handle. The outcome: a spiralling image that “hypnotizes” the audience. To make sure the viewer knew what to do to the machine I added the spiralling colours on the inside of the image to make the audience assume the product must rotate.

In the end the product worked. The audience and main viewer knew exactly what to do with my machine and instantly performed the proper action to make the machine work. There wasn’t much confusion as of what to do with it, she simply looked at the product, grabbed the handle and began rotating. Product SUCCESS… it’s a good feeling.

  3. Jen this was a simple yet effective design. I love the swirl pattern and if I had the chance would have probably play with it.

Your affordance was very clear and it was well built.
