Thoughtless Acts and Creative Misuse: Navdeep

By: Navdeep Sahota

This is an example of a thoughtless act similar to the ones shown in class. There is a little opening within the wall and someone has thrown their water bottle there. Since it is a hollow section within a wall, it looks like something should belong there, so someone decided to fill the hole with their water bottle.

Another thoughtless act!  The fire hydrant has an opening so people are likely to stick stuff into it. However, I think the owner of this business may have purposely stuffed newspaper to prevent people from throwing their garbage into it.

The sharpie is placed above the student group sign since it has a flat top. It works really well because the sign-up sheet is right above it, so it’s perfect use to get people to sign-up! This is a thoughtless act because the flat surface fits the pen perfectly and it doesn’t roll over.

Someone has used this sign to lock up their bike. I would classify this as a creative misuse because it’s done on a conscious level.  The person decided to lock it in the middle of victoria (the closed off area), around a huge pile of snow, maybe this is a way of better securing it because it would be very difficult to steal.

I am part of a student group called SAA. The office is very small so we have to make use of the space and store everything. We needed to store wood, so we taped it to the wall, which classifies this as a creative misuse act.

  3. Navdeep you have got some awesome examples here, very original!!

most of your thoughtless acts are conforming/adapting to the person environment and they are so common that I can see almost anyone doing them.

The wood taped to the wall made me laugh good choice 😉
